I Vote for God!

This blog is not written to offend anyone and rather just a respectful way of opening up some conversation and sharing some thoughts in hopes of bringing more Glory to God.  I ask that you pray for me in that I am able to deliver talk that is pleasing to God and with no other intention.

I was sitting around last night bumping some Christian jams and I got to thinking about our country and our race for presidency and how it meshes with Gods economy.  I figured I would go right to the bible and find mention of our different domestic and worldly problems and see what my God says about it all and how He would run our country.

Lately I have been feeling moved to start blogging again and after a long and much needed sabbatical I thought that this could be a good place to start.  I would like to make it clear that I welcome any ideas, comments, thoughts, or rebukes.  Please also pray that, should we disagree, I will not judge and rather respect and hopefully learn from our differences in opinions.  I also want to make it very clear that I know I am far from perfect and do not think I am the model Christian.  I too can and will be benefiting from these blogs and hopefully moving closer to God as I am called.

Here goes……….

What does God think about the election?  How would Jesus handle health care, taxes, the rich, the poor or middle class?  How would God Himself govern our country?  And of course….what should we as Americans be doing, other than bickering to help the cause?

You see, so many times I find myself straying away from God’s word when I know good and well that it is what is right for me in my life.  My life is better when God is present.  In fact, I believe with everything that I have that it is the best thing for everyone’s life.  God’s word, according to what I believe in, go to church for and represent on Facebook, is that God is “the way, the truth and the life”(John 14:6) and if this is true why do we not ask for His guidance in how our country is run and in how we act as Americans.

“All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” ~2 Timothy 4:16-17

Imagine a country where we were all equipped for good work?  Think we would be in this much debt?  Think our divorce rate would be this high? Think our politicians would care more about their businesses or their brothers and sisters?

After I read this, I decided to read the part right before this quote to better understand its context and here is what I found:

“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.  People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than of God- having a form of Godliness but denying its power.  Have nothing to do with them” ~2 Timothy 3: 1-5

Sound Familiar?  Let’s be real, our country needs a lot of work and help.  Could we be missing the obvious?  Should we consider what our great God has to say about all of these issues?  Is our answer to our problems right in front of us?  In the past I have found that God’s word is always right yet sometimes so right and even so difficult that I don’t even want to know what it is that He has to say because it might call me to do things differently.  We might be forced out of our comfort zone and to explore places we have never been.

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow, it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” ~ Hebrews 4: 12

As we go forward with this blog I ask that you keep an open mind and an open heart so that we can all benefit and hopefully follow God’s desire for us and for our country and world.  I challenge you to pick up the bible and read some of these versus I include to develop your own opinion about these topics.  This is not about you or I but about the call of our God and how it can affect our country and world.
